"Be the change you want to see in the world"
Sustainability
Stone Paper was developed as a sustainable alternative to pulp paper and synthetic materials. Stone Paper's unique composition and process give it a sustainable edge over many other materials.
Stone Paper consists of 80% calcium carbonate. Not only is a waste stream currently being used for this, limiting landfilling of this common mineral, but various studies are also underway to utilize more circular streams in the near future, such as filter waste from water treatment plants. This lime is an excellent base for Stone Paper. Studies are also underway to replace the HDPE used with a more sustainable alternative, such as biobased HDPE.
The Stone Paper production process has a hugely positive environmental impact compared to traditional pulp paper production. While pulp paper production requires enormous amounts of water, bleaching agents, and energy, resulting in emissions, Stone Paper uses very little to no of these.
And then, of course, there's deforestation. The world benefits from biodiversity; there's unanimous scientific consensus on that. Industrial deforestation, which is necessary for pulp paper, simply doesn't fit in, let alone the water management in forest areas and more. Small-scale development is fine, but we no longer consider the extreme scale of the pulp paper industry sustainable. Stone paper is a perfect alternative; small-scale, local, independent, and sustainable.
Our Mission
Stone Paper is committed to reducing paper packaging, among other things, to reduce the burden on our forests and vulnerable natural environments. We strive for a transition in the paper and packaging industry with the shared goal of protecting our environment for future generations. We believe that everyone can make a difference, that everyone is responsible, and should set an example for their community.
With today's knowledge of our environment, it's clear to everyone, both in business and private life, that action is needed. The more companies use Stone Paper, the more they contribute to reducing the burden on the environment. By raising awareness, providing an alternative, and encouraging action with Stone Paper, we give companies the choice to:
- Taking responsibility
- Relieving the burden on the environment
- Reducing CO2 emissions
- Communicating their sustainability values and goals
- Connecting with their customers
- Creating a win-win situation for all stakeholders
Unique features
Stone Paper is a new generation of paper and an excellent alternative to traditional paper. It's a tree-free paper made almost entirely of minerals.

Liquids such as water and oil do not affect Stone Paper.
No wood fibers
The swelling of the wood fibers destroys wood pulp paper immediately upon contact with a liquid. The result: warping of the print surface, and moisture destroys the product.
Stone Paper is 100% waterproof, so liquids have no effect on the material. After it gets wet, you can simply rub it dry.

1 ton of Stone Paper instead of wood pulp paper means oxygen for 40 people per year.
Made entirely from waste.
18 trees have to be cut down for 1 ton of paper.
Stone Paper is made entirely from waste and recycled materials, significantly reducing its environmental impact. One ton of pulp paper requires 18 trees, which are replaced by fast-growing trees that destroy biodiversity. Pulp paper can be recycled seven times, but each process has the same destructive effect on the environment.

1 ton of Stone Paper instead of wood pulp paper means 142 days of showering.
Stone Paper: Zero water use
35.000 liters of water are needed for the production of pulp paper.
The production of one ton of wood pulp paper requires 1 liters of water, of which 35.000 liters are wasted. Using Stone Paper therefore saves 2.770 liters per ton of paper. This is equivalent to an average person's drinking water consumption for 2.770 months!

By producing 1 tonne of Stone Paper instead of wood pulp, you save the amount of CO2 equivalent to a 4.520 kilometre car journey.
Stone Paper 482 kg CO2, Pulp paper 1.431 kg CO2.
CO2 emissions from production to end user: the CO2 emissions caused by the production process, transport, and raw materials. Compared to pulp paper, these emissions are 67% lower. Choosing Stone Paper is comparable to preventing the emissions from a car trip from Amsterdam to Jerusalem.

1 ton of Stone Paper instead of wood pulp paper means a saving equivalent to 1,5 years of energy use for a household.
Stone paper requires 3,1 Gigajoules, wood pulp paper 20,4 Gigajoules.
For 1 ton of Stone Paper, you need only 3,1 gigajoules of energy due to the highly efficient production process. This means the energy required is only 15% compared to pulp paper.

These chemicals are necessary to bleach the wood pulp fibers.
Stone Paper contains no harmful substances.
During the production of pulp paper, various harmful chemicals are used to kill microbes and whiten the material. Stone Paper production does not require any of these harmful substances.
